Emergency Communications Response Team

The Emergency Communications Response Team (ECRT) is the public service aspect of the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club.  The ECRT provides backup radio communications and other support to governmental and civic agencies in the times of emergency or disaster. 

Mission Statement

To provide timely, reliable, and accurate radio communications to local, state, and federal government agencies in times of emergency or disaster.

Monthly Meetings

The Federal Way Amateur Radio Club's ECRT meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7pm at the Federal Way City Hall.  City Hall is located at 33325 8th Ave South, in Federal Way.  Link to FW City Hall page

City of Federal Way CERT Basic Course

The Greater Federal Way Community Emergency Response Team (GFW CERT) provides residents of the Greater Federal Way Community with disaster preparedness skills to protect themselves, their families, and their neighbors, and the skills and organizational structure to respond to the immediate needs of the community, supporting first responders in the event of an emergency or disaster.  Everyone is invited to join the GFW CERT.

Oregon ACES Basic Course in Federal Way

The Federal Way Amateur Radio Club is sponsoring an Oregon ACES Basic certification course.  The course is scheduled for September 28th and 29th from 8am to 4:30pm on both days.  The course fee is $35 with the workbook, or $15 without the workbook.  ACES Basic Student Workbooks can be purchased directly from Amazon. Completion of FEMA's ICS 100, 200 and 700 courses are required prior to receiving your certificate.  You may take the ACES course if you haven't completed the FEMA courses, but you will receive your ACES certificate only after completing the FEMA courses.  Students are required to bring a radio and it's manual for programming practice and passing traffic.  Pre-registration is required.
