What Works for Me!

ELECTRICAL CONDUIT & CLIPS TO MOUNT ANTENNAS

Looking for a quick and reliable way to mount small antennas at your QTH?  What works for me is using various sizes of electrical metalic tubing (EMT) and the associated mounting clips.  I have mounted two VHF/UHF antennas on the wooden fence next my ham shack without any problems.  I like to use EMT, which is normally used as electrical conduit, as a mast because it is very inexpensive, easy to cut with a hacksaw, comes in ten foot lengths, and comes in all different diameters.  Since EMT is zinc plated, corrosion is kept to a minimum.  To get the antenna up into the air, I attach the correct sized clips to the fence using regular wood screws.  I then put the EMT conduit into the clips and tighten up the screws on the clips.  I DO NOT recommend using EMT for larger antenna with heavy wind loads as EMT is rather easy to bend.
